Oblivion mods

Check the Oblivion Source for mods. I'm amazed that some folks have already come up with mods, some of them new versions of mods for Morrowind.

I'm not planning on trying any mods until I'm done with the whole game in its original version, but perhaps some of you are already anxious to try them!

Oblivion review

New Oblivion review at Gamespot. I agree with several points, in particular:
- The quests are easier to follow than in Morrowind. The active quest feature is helpful too.
- Great attention to detail.
- The additional power moves that are achieved when you advance to journeyman, master, expert.

The reviewer is probably right that Oblivion is the best single-player RPG around. On the other hand, I don't see Oblivion as such a huge innovation over Morrowind.

One suggestion: in the PC version add some kind of tool that allows the player to make notes that are tied to quests, locations, etc. and can be searched in different ways. I sometime find myself writing down notes for later in the game, and a searchable notebook would be a good addition to the game.

Oblivion is out!

Oblivion is finally here! Tonight I bought my copy at the Palo Alto Fry's for $37 + tax. Several folks were trying to buy the game at 8:00am, but Fry's stocked it around 4:00pm (or so I've been told).

I could only play for about an hour, but I got through the introduction/tutorial. I created a redguard, combat specialization, warrior birthsign (+10 strength, +10 endurance) and I designed a custom class (block, blade, heavy armor, armorer, restoration, marksman, mercantile).

Elder Scrolls construction set wiki

From the introduction to the wiki:

"This is a community-run site where you'll find everything you need to use the The Elder Scrolls Construction Set and make mods for Oblivion. You'll find documentation on the Construction Set, tutorials on how to build your own dungeons and quests, and more.

If you're not familiar with the Wiki concept, see About The Elder Scrolls Construction Set Wiki
for more information. The basic idea is that the Construction Set Wiki will evolve and improve over time as the TES community explores the possibilities of modding Oblivion with the Construction Set.

Remember, the TES Construction Set Wiki is your site. We hope you find it useful, and we hope you join the community and contribute to making it even better."

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in cell phones!

I was surprised to find that Oblivion will also be available for cell phones. I wonder how different the game will be from the PC and XBox versions, and whether it will be any good.

If any of the readers uses the cell phone version, post your comments!
