I would also like to add that this patch is a beta and there may be bugs with installing it, which is a reason I haven't.
Quick follow-up: without the patch I wasn't able to continue playing the game beyond Mannimarco, so I didn't have a choice. Beta patch or abandoning the quest until a permanent patch is issued (and that hasn't happened yet)
